Question on SWIFT

What are the requirements and dependencies for integrating SWIFT with internal back-office applications ?

  1. Hi Rahul,

An application interface forms the doorway to a SWIFT system for importing and/or exporting data. The data can be transferred from one application to another in the form of Flat files. A more secured means of data transfer could be achieved using IBM MQ Series.

Back-office applications like CBS, Treasury, Trade Finance, Anti Money Laundering systems are often integrated with SWIFT system. Thus, putting together related operations on STP. The major dependancy here is the compliance of these business applications with SWIFT's standard format.

A third party Middleware application is then used to fill this functionality gap between the bank applications’ standards and the SWIFT's standards. The middleware, typically accesses different back-office systems each with its proprietary format and then re-formats the messages from and to SWIFT format.
